Yaman Bayram

PhD Student, Mediterranean Art & Archaeology

Hasım Yaman Bayram is a Ph.D. student in the Mediterranean Art and Archaeology program studying under Dr. Fotini Kondyli. His research investigates disaster resilience in Late Antiquity, focusing on how ancient societies innovated and adapted their infrastructure in response to environmental and social challenges. He is particularly interested in seismic impacts on hydraulic systems and the ways communities responded through repair, adaptation, and new construction.

He earned an M.Sc. in Architectural Conservation from Istanbul Technical University, where he carried out multiple conservation projects, after completing his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering at the same institution.

Yaman brings an interdisciplinary background in architectural conservation and archaeology, with field experience across Turkey. Since 2023, he has been a member of the German Archaeological Institute’s Küçükçekmece excavations in Istanbul, where he now leads the topographical documentation team. He has also been part of the Hagia Thekla field survey team since 2019, contributing to photogrammetry and EDM documentation. In 2024, he joined the BRIA project, which focuses on Byzantine and medieval architecture in Thrace, where he manages the digital photography archive. He has additionally participated in surveys at Lyrbe and excavations at Iasos, alongside conservation projects in Istanbul. His current interests include the use of artificial intelligence in archaeology, advanced data visualization, and innovative surveying methods.
